Classic Comments Δ
Marlene Draper stated that CVHS does have a theatre; it just looks architecturally different from the other schools. It is assumed she is referring to the mall, which is in fact a lunchroom, locker room, attendance office, hallway, foodservice area with a platform. Parents of CVHS funded the lighting, sound system, door to close off the back room and the chairs.
Draper stated, “We have tried to keep the cuts away from the classroom.” Who is she kidding? If they make any more cuts to the classrooms we may as well keep all of our students’ home because all that is left now is one teacher for 40 or more students.
Board Briefs Δ
Study session from 4:00 to 5:00 pm to discuss Capital Facilities Source and Uses - This presentation was an attempt by the district to account for the income and expenses of the various facilities funds. However they did not reconcile the funds to the inception date, so it is difficult to determine the total source and use of each fund. Not much discussion occurred as the PowerPoint presentation took up the majority of the time. Of note was a discussion the trustees had regarding the lack of a theatre at CVHS, the only high school in South Orange County that does not have one. Anna Bryson pointed out that CVHS still does not have a theatre. Marlene Draper stated that CVHS does have a theatre; it just looks architecturally different from the other schools. Trustee Larry Christensen was on vacation and did not attend the July 16th board meeting.
Public Comment Δ
Lunch Invitation
Barbara Casserly invited the trustees to have lunch in the Newhart locker room where the students dine.
Waldrip Report Discrepancies
The Grand Jury testimony differs from the Waldrip Report and she requested a discussion about that be on the next board agenda. In other words McIntyre did not admit to Waldrip she had typed the enemies list thus wasting $40,000 on a sham investigation because McIntyre did disclose under penalty of perjury, to the grand jury, that she had typed the list and discussed it with Fleming. Casserly stated she supports CUSD but not the trustees.
Darnold turned his back and faced the wall while she spoke. I guess we all really do learn everything we know in kindergarten.

Item #22 Classified Layoffs Δ
Pulled by CSEA President, she again requested that the district not lay off additional classified staff. These staff members directly impact our students. Lovely stated that the sites did the layoffs, as they no longer have the money to fund the positions. What Lovely didn’t explain is that the sites no longer have the money because the district is forcing sites to pay for positions essential to safely and operation that were cut in the budget. Draper again used her “New Word by stating (again) “ We must stop deficit spending and must make the cuts to stay within our budget. We have tried to keep the cuts away from the classroom.” Who is she kidding? If they make any more cuts to the classrooms we may as well keep all of our students’ home because all that is left is one teacher for 40 or more students.
